According to Tongurai Limpiti, deputy governor of the Bank of Thailand, the new design incorporates a range of advanced counterfeit-deterrent features to facilitate authentication by banknote-sorting machines, vending machines and the general public, including the visually impaired. The new design retains the green colour and size of the current Bt20 note (Series 15), 72 by 138 millimetres, and contains key security features such as watermarks, ‘colour-shift’ windowed security threads, see-through registers and tactile marks.
The existing and previous series remain legal tender.
