Betagro launches feed mill in Cambodia

Betagro Group is erecting a feed mill in Phnom Penh, to cash in on growing demand in Cambodia.

Narongchai Srisantisaeng, senior vice president of Betagro's regional and feed business, said that the feed mill will have the monthly capacity of 18,000 tonnes. The plant construction will start in May for completion within 2014.
Betagro entered Cambodia through a sale office, opened in 2008. At present, it sold 3,600 tonnes of animal feed monthly in the country.
The new plant will facilitate transportation and reduce the transportation cost. This will add price competitiveness to the company's products and enhance service quality for customers, Narongchai said.
Betagro is investing in a swine farm in Cambodia and construction at the 400-rai site is slated for completion in May. Developed under Betagro's standards, the plant will be equipped a system to turn waste to biogas, which will save electricity usage by 30-50 per cent. The closed farm will also honour maximum hygienic standards.
It also conducts the feasibility study to open a processing plant as well as Betagro Shop in the country.
