Property brokerage notes investors shifting

A rising number of investors are turning to property assets because of high returns, a shift from focusing on low-return bonds, according to Plus Property, a real-estate management and brokerage company.

Poomipak Julmanichoti, senior deputy managing director, said there was still no sign of a bubble in the property sector. The company has carefully surveyed demand in each area of Bangkok and the provinces before launching any projects.
The company, which has 1,400 staff, will focus on training its people to tap prospective foreign customers, such as Russians, Britons, Chinese and Scandinavians, who have high purchasing power and demand residences in Thailand.
The company will also further expand into high-demand provinces such as Phuket, Chiang Mai, Udon Thani and Rayong.
But the company has yet to have any plan to expand overseas, wanting to concentrate on the home market first, both in Bangkok and upcountry.
Poomipak said the full realisation of the Asean Economic Community in 2015 and the government’s plan to spend Bt2 trillion on infrastructure development would spark growth of the property business and demand for homes by Thais and foreigners.
