About 65 per cent of employees surveyed said they were underpaid. Only 9 per cent said their salaries were high enough to ensure them a happy lifestyle.
The unhappy respondents also mentioned that unclear job scope, lack of skill development at work and poor relationships with supervisors were other key factors.
When workers were questioned about how they planned to restore their happiness at work, 58 per cent said they were going to find new jobs, while 37 per cent replied that they spent their off-hours relaxing with friends or enjoying their hobbies.
“Following the salary issue, scope and job content were ranked as the main factors of dissatisfaction at work. Half of the respondents said their jobs were boring and uninteresting. These two factors pushed workers to find new jobs to restore their happiness,” Thanaporn said.
As today is National Labour Day, Jobstreet.com asked employees what employers could do to improve their quality of life and happiness at work. The employees said they needed higher salaries and better benefits, more growth in their career paths and a better work-life balance.
Jobstreet.com will hold resume and career clinics on the first and third Friday of every month until October at Gate 3 of the Sukhumvit MRT station, which links to the Asok station of the BTS Skytrain.
