Anothai Wetthayakorn, managing director of Dell Corp (Thailand) and general manager for Indochina said it was the first time the computer giant would be able to provide its full range of hardware products to customers – starting at entry level products to hi-end appliances. The company also plans to provide end-to-end corporate solutions for the region’s rapidly expanding markets.
The firm is anticipating strong growth in revenue said Wetthayakorn, due to the expansion of 3G technology among mobile users, data storage, security issues and growing consumer awareness throughout the region. It would continue to invest in the Thai market, which it is mature market, he added. Meanwhile, Gartner, the US-based information-technology research and advisory firm reported that the Asia-Pacific security services market would continue to grow from 28 per cent to 33 per cent annually through 2015.
“I think that in the Asia-Pacific region, Thailand and Indonesia are high-potential growth countries. Dell (Thailand) will continue to invest in Thailand – creating a brand and product strategy, increasing its human resources and expanding its retail business channels,” said Anothai.
He added that the firm also expects to become one of the top five hardware producers for home users by the end of the year, and aims to be in the top three within the next three.
In addition, the computer hardware producer plans to set up an office in Myanmar in the second half of this year where it will also focus on expanding its business to home users and commercial enterprises.
The company already has eight business partners in Myanmar, including two retail distributors, one commercial distributor and five corporate resellers.
