Experts share views on technology at 15th Carriers World Asia

Thailand recently hosted the 15th Carriers World Asia, to further promote telecommunication business development in the region.

CAT Telecom was the platinum sponsor of the conference, which presented a variety of technology and IT business to business owners who want to improve their network technology and management to accommodate higher traffic. The event also took place in Thailand in 2012.
“The government also has a policy to develop information technology and communication in terms of both software and hardware, and upgrade ICT infrastructure to meet international standard in order to serve as Information Superhighway that fosters business and social activities with various networks. We also encourage business owners to innovate new technologies in order to enhance our capacity to provide service and create positive image of Thailand. We also support the development of human resources as we are a hub of information communication and technology and to accommodate the expansion of business and investment in ASEAN, especially when we enter AEC in this coming 2015,” said ICT Minister Anudith Nakornthap in his opening speech for the event on March 27.
Anotai Klampaiboon, CAT Telecom executive vice president for - Corporate & Wholesale Customer Group of CAT, said during her presentations of “Telecom Business Transformation in ASEAN” that changes of telecommunication business are foreseeable along with the Asean Economic Community. When competition in the market will rise, businesses thus need to enhance the added value of products and smoothen business process.
WongkotVijacksungsithi, vice president for Corporate Strategy Department of CAT during the discussion of “Collaborative opportunities between local and foreign carriers in face of the deregulation and technical infrastructure developments in Indochina” said that businesses need strong alliance. “We can utilise the connections and expertise that each one has to enhance service capacity and to meet customers’ demand. If we have business alliances and work closely with them, we are able to get ourselves ready for any changes. Technologies or regulations will no longer be something we have to worry about anymore.”
“We are in the era when social network grows rapidly. That’s why OTT (Over the Top) or applications for social networking such as Online Communities, Shared Social Spaces like MySpace, YouTube, and Facebook have become very popular. They create innumerable value of online business, while increase traffic in the network greatly and rapidly. Hence, a challenge for service providers is to develop backbone network to meet customer demands both presently and in the future in order to create excellent experience and to make them most satisfied when using applications on your network” said Dr.Dhanant Subhadrabandhu, executive vice president for Product Development Group of CAT. He shared the view during the discussion with well-known OTT providers like Amazon and Google in the topic of “Carriers vs OTTs Grow new revenue streams through content partnerships that monetize traffic and improve end user experience”.
