The shopping complex has also set up a nine-day Angry Birds event aimed at attracting about 1.5 million visitors.
Christian Olofsson, president and shopping-centre manager, said Mega Bangna planned this year to invest about Bt500 million to provide 2,000 square metres for auto showrooms in the complex.
“We have a long list for automobile and other companies that want to participate and open new showrooms at Mega Bangna. Therefore, we plan to invest in the expansion,” he said. He also said that to invite more visitors to experience Mega Bangna, the company would conduct a simulated journey into space with “Angry Birds Blast Off”.
There will also be other highlights to entertain fans of the Angry Birds game. Mega Bangna will be transformed by the screening of a short animated feature called “4D Angry Birds Space” in a room that is a simulation of Pig Bang, one of the levels in the Angry Birds Space game. Visitors will be able to get up close and personal with a meet-and-greet session with Angry Birds, participate in photo spots and shop for Angry Birds merchandise.
Neal Rudge, managing director of Pacific Licensing Studio, which holds the rights to Angry Birds licensing, said the event would provide a unique experience for Angry Birds lovers and provide the first 4D experience in Thailand.
He also said the firm had provided Angry Birds licences to about 30 companies in Thailand.
