CPN bans political activities from its public space

Central Pattana Plc, the owner of Central shopping complexes, issued a statement on Friday to bar all types of political activities on its public space.

In the statement, it said that it is the company's policy to maintain professionalism and the neutral political stand.
"The company has no policy to oppose political gathering, but we have no policy to support any group in using our space for the gathering or any kind of political activities," it said.
It also said that all shopping complexes are serving as public space for leisure activities, cultural promotion, small traders and the promotion of community products.
In 2010, the anti-government protesters, the red shirts, took control of the Ratchaprasong Intersection. Parts of CentralWorld, the flagship property of the company, were torched and the complex was closed for months. Central Pattana has not yet received compensation for the fire damage, as the insurance company claimed it was a result of terrorism. The case is still under court proceedings.
