KT TV series to explore R10 route

In line with its focus on Asean news, Krungthep Turakij TV plans to launch a new five-part series on the R10 - the new economic/transportation route connecting Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.

The series will be broadcast from today to Friday, 6pm to 8pm.
R10 will give viewers an overview of how it will support future growth of trade, investment and tourism in the perspectives of executives from both the public and private sectors of Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.
The upcoming economic, social and cultural integration of 10 Asean nations under the Asean Economic Community 2015 seeks to foster cooperation among Asean nations and raise the living standards of the member countries.
Recently, Krungthep Turakij TV was invited by the Thai Embassy in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to survey the Southern Economic Corridor (SEC), or R10, along with executives from Vietnam’s southern provinces via this route which connects south Vietnam, Cambodia and northeastern Thailand.
The R10 route is divided into 3 sections:
Thailand (Bangkok-Barn Had Lek permanent border crossing point); a distance of 380km.
Cambodia (at the Sam Yam border crossing point – Koh Gong province – Sarae Ample province – Sihanoukville province – Gam Pok province); a distance of 280km
Vietnam (Ha Tien – Mao Ga province – Nam Can); a distance of 240km.

Five-day trip
The trip commenced from Ho Chi Minh City and headed south to Cambodia and Thailand. The participants on this trip included high-ranking state officials and private sector executives from the three counties. Among them were the Thai consul-general to Ho Chi Minh City, Pornpimol Suwanpongse; Pham Thanh Toui, chairman of the Public Board of Mao Ga province, Vietnam; Mai Van Huynh, deputy chairman of the Public Board of Gian yang province, Vietnam; and Dao Anh Dung, deputy chairman of the Public Board of Can Tho province, Vietnam. They were accompanied by senior officials from Thailand’s five coastal provinces (Tak, Rayong, Chantaburi, Chon Buri, Chachoengsao), Juthathip Chareonlarb, director at the Tourism Authority’s office in Ho Chi Minh City, and a group of Thai businesspersons.
During the five-day trip covering more than 900km, the five-part R10 TV series will highlight the potential of the R10 route, the economic feasibility in connecting Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, as well as obstacles and limitations of the R10 route which await further development.
The series “R10 economic route” will cover the following aspects:
Part 1 – Revival of the R10 route to connect Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand;
Part 2 – Entering southern Vietnam via R10 route;
Part 3 – “Cambodia” – the transport gateway for Thai agricultural goods;
Part 4 – R10 route – tourism along the Gulf of Thailand – Koh Gong – SihanoukVille;
Part 5 – Opportunities/hopes/business on the R10 economic route.
Apart from this five-part TV series on the R10 economic route, Krungthep Turakij will be broadcasting more Asean news on a regular through “Good Morning Asean”, Asean Business Report, Asean Move and Think Asean programmes.
