“We are having the most vibrant year ever,” NMG chairman Suthichai Yoon said yesterday at the One Nation One Family event. “Not only are all business units of NMG expanding, but NMG is going to bid for digital TV stations too. With the move, NMG is going to reach out to more than 22 million families via news and variety digital-TV channels.”
Held at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Bitec) in celebration of NMG’s anniversary, the One Nation One Family event brought together more than 2,000 NMG staff and family members.
NMG was established on July 1, 1971.
“We have prepared ourselves for more than 42 years. Throughout our operations, we have done our duty as a socially responsible media organisation. We have answered to the needs as well as the expectations of people,” Suthichai said.
NMG has been roaring ahead for over four decades because of its 5Ns – Novelty, Nimbleness, Niche, Non-Stop and the Next Big Thing.
On Novelty, NMG is a pioneer on various fronts. The Nation, for example, is the first Thai-owned English-language newspaper. Krungthep Turakij is the first business daily in Thailand. Launched last year, Krungthep Turakij TV is Thailand’s first TV station with full business content.
On Nimbleness, NMG has more than 500 field reporters to cover all the hot issues and important incidents.
On Niche, media outlets of NMG have clear segmentations. Together, they cover more than 35 million people.
On Non-Stop, NMG has never stopped improving itself. This explains why NMG is today the leading multimedia organisation. NMG can reach out to its audience via all platforms, including the five screens.
On the Next Big Thing, NMG has always created new history. Its plan to set up digital TV stations promises to be the next big thing, too.
