TV hopefuls join test for Nation Digital TV

Over 200 people turned up for a job test last week, as Nation Multimedia Group is hiring for Nation Digital TV.

Adisak Limprungpatanakij, president of Nation Broadcasting Corp, said the applicants varied from new graduates and technicians to those with backstage experience. They were vying for positions as news anchors, programme hosts, news reporters, photographers, creatives, producers, graphic designers and marketing officers.

Everyone appearing on the TV screen is required to take a writing test and then a news-reporting test in front of the camera. They will form a team of new staff to produce news and variety programmes for the new TV channel, he said.

Nation Group plans to bid for a news channel licence during the National Broadcasting and
Telecommunications Commission’s digital TV auction in October.

Adisak said this will be the first round of testing and more applicants will be called for the next round.
“Our recruiting principle is aligned with the policy to highlight responsible views, professional knowledge and knowledge in all fields. The writing test is designed to gauge their basic knowledge of current affairs, their understanding of the new media and their attitude,” he said.

Those passing the test will proceed to Nation Group’s training programmes.
