EGAT welcomes 12th governor

Soonchai Kumnoonsate, a former deputy governor of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand in charge of power-plant development, has officially become the state agency's 12th governor.

In a statement released on Monday, his first mission is on the development of new power plants to replace decommissioned ones. He will also look at the improvement of the old-age transmission grid, also to cope with the supplies of more renewable energy from small power producers as well as the Asean Power Grid.
EGAT is committed to ensure stable power supply at an expensive cost, he said. The agency wil also assure the public of energy stability as well as environment-safeguarding measures.
