Ch Karnchang wins Bt20bn hydro power project

Ch Karnchang Group had inked a Bt20 billion agreement to develop the Nam Bak hydroelectric power project in Laos.

Nam Bak construction is expected to start by the end of 2014. The construction alone will cost approximately Bt17 billion.
Plew Trivisvavet, executive chairman and CEO of the group, said in a statement that from now on, it will work at full speed to finalise the Power Purchase Agreement and Construction Contract.
The hydro power project, with 160MW installed capacity, belongs to Nam Ngum 2 Power Co Ltd, a subsidiary of CK Power. On August 8, it signed the project development agreement with Laos.  Ch Karnchang has won contracts to win construction contracts for large-scale hydropower projects in Laos, namely the Nam Ngum 2 Hydroelectric Power Project and Xayaburi Hydropower Project.
