Auto market returns to normal in July

Vehicle sales in July fell below 100,000 units for the first time in months, as the automotive market has resumed the normalcy.

According to the data compiled by Toyota Motor Thailand, the monthly sales stood at 98,251 units, which showed a 25.4 per cent decrease from the same period last year.
Of total, passenger cars amounted to 47,484 units, down by 26.3 per cent. One-tonne pick-up truck sales amounted to 41,469 units, down by 29.6 per cent.
Vudhigorn Suriyachantananont, senior vice president at Toyota  Motor Thailand, said that the sale figures showed that the market has returned to its normal condition, after the sharp growth last year.
The accumulated sale volume in the first seven months of this year amounted to 839,046 units, still 13.6 per cent higher than the same period last year.
"After the end of the first-car buyer scheme, the automotive market tends to resume its normalcy. However, promotions would help boost sales," he said.
