Major Cineplex foresees 10-15% ticket sale increase

Major Cineplex Group targets the 10-15 per cent growth rate in ticket sales this year, up from 33 million tickets last year.

Niti Pattanapakdee, the general manager at Major CineAd, a subsidiary of Major Cineplex Group, attributed that to the increase in the number of movie-goers as well as the higher frequency.
He estimated that thanks to the high number of blockbusters so far this year, total ticket sales this year could hit Bt2 billion.
"It's a golden year for the movie business, with a number of movies that can generate high revenue. This encourages movie-goers to come to theatres more often," he said.
This year, the company plans to hike the movie advertising fee by 15 per cent.
Major Cineplex has controlled about 70 per cent of the theatre business.
