Top Commerce official faces threat

A woman made a mysterious call to the Commerce Ministry's Hotline 1569 yesterday, threatening physical assaults against the ministry's permanent secretary Vatchari Vimooktayon.

An officer manning the hotline centre, tasked to received complaints or tips on product prices, said that the mysterious caller also threatened to splash acid against Vatchari.
Earlier this week, when she announced the August inflation data, Vatchari insisted that the higher cooking gas price for household use would add up inflation in the remaining four months of this year by only 0.01 percentage point. She also noted that "It's just a perception that goods prices are expensive." He words have been widely spread in the social media in the past few days.
