Suthichai Yoon said on the stage of "Software Expo Asia 2013" that the next wave of digital media would combine traditional broadcasting and social media, which will provide immediate news and knowledge to audiences everywhere. It will also support the new digital lifestyle for all in society.
"We have made a big cultural transition over the past 10 years with consistency. This transition period allowed us to reconcile our business with the digital era," Suthichai said.
He added that The Nation realised that technology would change every dimension of the media world, from content provider to media platform to consumer.
NMG has adapted its business over the past decade and transformed the culture of its journalists and its operations into the digital world. Now it is able to develop content and knowledge and deliver it through a five-screen strategy – television, tablets, personal computers, mobile phones and digital signage – to support all audiences regardless of their lifestyles.
The firm also set up the Nation Convergent Newsroom four years ago as the centre to converge all content from the group including newspapers, radio, TV and websites so that it can develop and share content across the five screens, starting from morning to night.
"I believe that around 80-90 per cent of our journalists and the rest of our team have adapted their work and lifestyles to the digital world. We have prompted to consign towards the future," Suthichai said, adding that the group was determined to keep progressing into the future.
