TCEB unveils 'Thailand Connect' global MICE campaign

THE THAILAND Convention and Exhibition Bureau has introduced "Thailand Connect", a global marketing campaign with the target of generating almost Bt100 billion in revenue next year.

TCEB president Nopparat Maythaveekulchai said the bureau had launched the campaign at “IT&CMA and CTW Asia-Pacific”, the region’s flagship trade show for the incentive-travel and international-meetings industry, in Bangkok. The three-day event ends today.
Thailand has hosted the annual IT&CMA and CTW Asia-Pacific for the past 12 years. Therefore, the TCEB |chose this platform to promote Thailand’s MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) industry by introducing the new marketing strategy to the |more than 2,600 delegates from 60 countries.
The new campaign focuses on three key strategies: a diversity of destinations, unrivalled business opportunities, and high quality of Thailand’s MICE professionals.
Next year, Thailand expects to attract 987,000 MICE travellers from overseas, with revenue expected to approach Bt100 billion.
Together with the Thailand Connect campaign, the bureau also announced its advertising campaign for 2014, reflecting the philosophy of promoting business cooperation, both within Thailand and across the Asian region.
The campaign incorporates a number of market-promotion packages to enhance the success of MICE business under the “Thailand Connect Exclusive” scheme.
For meetings and incentive travel groups, the TCEB offers financial support of Bt200,000 for events with more than 200 participants and with stays of at least five nights in Thailand, including an overnight stay in at least one province outside the main meeting location.
For international conferences, the TCEB offers promotional support for events from the Asean+6 countries – that is, the 10 Asean nations plus South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, India, and Greater China (the mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau).
For international exhibitions, the TCEB supports business-matching activities for visiting trade groups of 15 or more delegates from Asean+6 and BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) countries, the latter comprising Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Nepal, besides Thailand itself.
To qualify for support of US$150 (Bt4,700) per person, the groups must stay a minimum of three days and two nights, with at least 45 business-matching appointments. Each participant will need at least such appointments; for groups with fewer than 45 appointments in total, the level of support will be $100 per person.
