Ampon Kittiampon, chairman of Bank of Thailand, has resigned as a member of the Monetary Policy Committee, effective on October 29.

The central bank announced today that the board of governors at the October 30 meeting resolved to replace Ampon with Arkhom Termpittayphaisith, secretary-general of the National Economic and Social Development Board.
Arkhom would hold the position until October 31, 2014.
Taking over the central bank's chairmanship in August, Ampon, also the Cabinet's secretary, in the past two months has maintained his position as a member of the MPC - the policy rate-setting body. The body has 7 members including BOT governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul.
At 2pm today, the central bank schedules an urgent press conference, where more details on the change are expected.
