As a businessman, he said stable politics would drive the Thai economy forward, to be on par with some other Asean economies.
Seen at ThaiBev Expo, the exhibition to unveil the wide range of beverage products from the company which was opened on Saturday, Thapan said investor confidence is the key to draw foreign investment. If the confidence is shattered, foreign investors could overlook Thailand.
"I wish the politics to resume its normalcy, so that Thailand's economy could shine in the region," he said.
He noted that if the situation worsens, Thailand would step backward despite its potential.
"A restart after the "set zero" or the shutdown may not come right away, as it's like pulling the plug. We need to put the jack back in again to retart it. Protests should not be the means to determine anything as Thailand, though able to draw investment, is losing its opportunities. In light of this, investors are turning to Myanmar and Vietnam," he said.
