PM will not attend chamber conference

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra or her representative will not be among the list of participants at the annual conference of the Board of Trade and Thai Chamber of Commerce this weekend, given the unusual political condition.

The organisers said they don't want to be pulled into ongoing political conflicts.
The conference, where all members of the trade associations will gather and discuss key issues, will take place in the southern province of Trang during November 22-24.
Isara Vongkusolkit, chairman of the associations, said that the associations have put on hold the invitation to the prime minister, following the threats from the anti-government protesters to stage a protest.
"Politics has never been an issue at the annual conferences. Usually, the prime minister had been invited to join or a deputy prime minister. But this year, given unusual political condition, the invitation would be scrapped. Yet, the government would be later presented a white paper that contains our suggestions and proposals," Isara said.
This year's conference is under the "Changing mindset, geared towards victory" theme. Over 1,000 participants are expected.
