Inflation at 7-month high, but still low

Higher food prices pushed up inflation in February to 1.96 per cent, the highest in seven months.

According to the Commerce Ministry's data, the monthly figure went up by 0.23 per cent from January.
Inflation in the first two months averaged at 1.95 per cent.
The ministry targets the inflation to move in the range of 2-2.8 per cent this year, amid the slowdown in economic activities. Political conflicts have been held as the major reason for lower domestic consumption.
