President Teeranun Srihong attributed the year-on-year increase mostly to the rise in net interest income of Bt2.3 billion or 13.31 per cent, thanks to loan growth. The non-interest income also increased by Bt2.2 billion or 19.13 per cent.
Still, at the end of March, total assets expanded by only 0.83 per cent from the end of 2013, to Bt2.3 trillion, due to the slowdown in commercial loan extension.
The non-performing loans also increased slightly from 2.11 per cent at the end of 2013, to 2.14 per cent.
The capital adequacy ratio, under the Basel III Accord, remained strong at 15.60 per cent, with the tier-1 ratio of 12.39 per cent.
