Konica expands for tripling in market share in 3 years

Konica Minolta Business Solutions (Thailand) is set to expand its office automation business and triple its market share in three years.
“First of all, we target expansion. Unfortunately, our market share is small. But this means we have big potential to increase our business,” Osafumi Kawamura, managing director of the wholly-owned office equipment sales subsidiary of Konica Minolta of Japan, said yesterday. 
“We have set the target to achieve Bt700 million in sales in the first 12 months and Bt2 billion sales in five years,” said the first managing director of the new sales subsidiary.
Konica Minolta claims its strength is the high quality and performance of its products, and the services and solutions supported by professional staff. 
“By delivering these, we ensure customer satisfaction, which is our top priority,” he said.
“I’ve shared with our staff our mission to increase market share, develop the production printing business, drive the optimise print service (OPS) business and become No 1 in customer satisfaction,” he said.
The market for digital multifunction printers was about 32,000 units, which is the biggest in Asean. Though growth will differ year by year, the company predicts growth in coming years would help the industry expand up to the 50,000-unit level in 2016. 
The company expects colour multifunction printers sales to increase from 33 per cent of the total to near 40 per cent over the period.
The regional head office in Singapore, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia, is its parent company, but the Thai company works together with them not only for marketing and technical support but also global major account sales support. 
“We will have closer communications and collaboration than before to enhance the Thai business as Konica Minolta group,” he said.
Konica Minolta used to use local distributors, but with higher expectations for further economic growth and increasing demand, it became essential to formulate a sales strategy to better meet the specific needs in the Thai market and thoroughly focus on local customers.  Konica Minolta decided to establish the company to make a committed effort to increase sales in this promising market.
In April, Inter Far East Engineering, a distributor of Konica Minolta, agreed to transfer its office equipment business to the company.
With the establishment of the subsidiary, Konica Minolta will further improve customer satisfaction and enhance business development capabilities through marketing empowerment, expansion and creation of sales channels and provision of superior customer service.
