The bank has already extended more than Bt1.6 billion in loans to franchising businesses and is planning to offer Bt1 billion more this year.
The bank is joining with Seacon Bangkae to stage the K SME Franchise Expo @ Seacon Bangkae from November 7-9. The bank hopes for more than 3,000 visitors and to approve Bt60 million in loans for small and medium-sized franchise businesses, Pipavat Bhadranavik, first senior vice president, said yesterday.
Franchising is becoming more popular given its systematic business administration. Many companies have also established strong brands that are recognised by most customers. Further expansion is expected for the industry as a result of economic growth upcountry, the government’s promotional measures and increased lending from financial institutions. Many people wish to engage in franchising because of operating flexibility and appealing income.
Fast-growing and promising growth industries for this business model are food and beverages, education, and services, which require inexpensive investment and simple administration.
Market demand for these businesses remains high, particularly in newly urbanised areas, such as the Thon Buri side of Bangkok along Skytrain routes, areas with plenty of housing projects, and locations with similar developments in the provinces, Pipavat said.
