BoI plans business trip to Myanmar

Thailand's Board of Investment (BoI) will take local businessmen from the Northeast and East region of Thailand to visit four major cities in Myanmar during November 24-28 in order to look into potential businesses.

The Khon Kaen and Chon Buri branches of BoI will jointly organize a business trip, taking local business people from the Northeast and East region to visit Mandalay, Pagan, Yangon and Pegu. The visit will allow Thai businessmen to meet up with the Myanmar side.  Among them is the meeting with the management of Pegu Industrial Estate.
The BoI will also take participants to visit Myanmar’s leading lacquerware operated by the government as well as the Tanaka (Myannar’s famous herb) manufacturing plant.
BoI believes the visit will help Thailand’s SME operators to prepare for the future investment as well as finding the right partners in Myanmar. The move will help them prepare well for the upcoming Asean Economic Cooperation (AEC) scheduled to implement next year.
The SMEs operators will also visit manufacturing plants of Thailand’s companies in Myanmar such as Charoen Pokphand and Saha Group. They will also go to observe Zaycho, Mingalar Zay and Bagint markets which are the largest markets for processed agricultural products.
