TV Thunder plans MAI listing, expanded production capacity

To get ready for increasing demand from digital-television broadcasters, production house TV Thunder says it plans to list on the Market for Alternative Investment next year in a bid to expand its production capacity and procure new technology.

The plan was announced after the company appointed Asset Pro Management as
an official financial assistant to enter the MAI. TV Thunder’s registered capital is Bt200 million, which will be divided into 800 million ordinary shares at Bt0.25 per share. But only 200 million shares will be available for public investors.
Chief executive officer Patraporn Wannapinyo said her company had also prepared about Bt300 million for next year’s business expansion. Of that investment, Bt200 million will be used to build three new studios equipped with cutting-edge sound and lighting technology, located on 6 rai (1 hectare) in the Ramkhamhaeng area of Bangkok. The remaining Bt100 million will be spent on production.
Patraporn said that currently, only one studio was being used to produce TV programmes for its clients.
She added that she saw a huge opportunity after the number of national free-TV channels had grown from six analog to 24 digital chan-nels. The new digital-TV broadcasters were requiring more content to help them lure more viewers.
Currently, TV Thunder produces game shows, variety shows, dramas, situation comedies and talk shows both for analog stations like Channel 3 and for new clients such as Thairath TV, PPTV and One HD channel, using the terrestrial-based digital platform.
Phusit Laithong, executive director in charge of TV programming, said the company was in talks with a number of digital-TV operators, including Mono Broadcast, the operator of Mono 29 channel, and BEC-Multimedia, the operator of digital channels 13, 28 and 33.
He said his company had prepared about 10 TV shows for next year’s programme line-up, three or four of which are international formats.
