Kan Trakulhoon, president and CEO of SCG, shared that the company’s true commitment on Sustainable Development (SD) has resulted in this global recognition from the DJSI with the Global Industry Leader position in Construction Materials for the fourth year running.
SCG has been listed on the DJSI’s Gold Class for seven consecutive years since 2008. The DJSI is a security index established by Dow Jones to assess and benchmark sustainability performance of the world’s leading companies with a conviction that DJSI-listed companies with sound sustainable practices have a better chance to excel in the long run.
“This recognition from the DJSI that awarded us the Global Industry Leader clearly reflects our excellence in the economic, social and environmental dimension, leading to best practices for every involved party. SCG has also established a Sustainable Development (SD) model that can be applied from within our corporation to all related parties that are involved in our supply chain. That also includes the surroundings, the environment, the community and the society. We believe in conducting a sustainable business based on our four core values, of which the most valuable property is our personnel,” Kan said.
As the industry leader, SCG is committed to be the model of sustainability for other businesses, on the belief that this would ensure good balance of economic, social and environmental growth to allow for competition in a real and sustainable way in Asean.
"SCG is ready to be a good model for SD and we are willing to share our know-how and experiences to other corporations interested in collaborating to make Thailand and our Asean region a true sustainable economy,” said Roongrote Rangsiyopash, chairman of the SCG Sustainable Development Committee.
