Company vice chairman and chief executive Pipat Paniangvait said yesterday the Thai instant noodle market was tipped to rise only 1.4 per cent to about Bt15.4 billion this year.
But he said consumption per capita of instant noodles was mature at 45 packs per person a year. This was in line with developed markets such as Japan, which sell 43.4 packs per person a year. Pipat blamed the sluggish sales figure on the economic slowdown and resulting lower consumer spending power, especially at grassroots level.
