Eco-marathon won by Thailand for fifth year
Thailand has emerged as the overall victor for the fifth consecutive year at the Shell Eco-marathon Asia, up against students from the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East and Africa who set out to conquer the streets of Luneta Park, Manila, in the Philippines.
This year’s winners defeated more than 120 student teams from 17 countries, including new entrants from Australia, Bangladesh, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
Teams submitted vehicle entries in either the Urban Concept or Prototype category in any of seven different energy types.
Results were measured on who could drive the furthest on the equivalent of 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity, 1 cubic metre of hydrogen or 1 litre of fuel.
The winning teams set five new mileage records.
