The focus this year is on the enterprise market, while remaining in the top three in the consumer market for computers.
Anothai Wettayakorn, managing director of Dell Corporation (Thailand), said the company would strive to educate more customers about its three key solutions and leverage its business partners’ capability to offer these solutions to businesses. Therefore, it needs more partners that specialise in enterprise resource planning, media and entertainment, and software security.
"Revenue generated from Dell’s partner channels increased from 50 per cent in 2013 to 70 per cent in 2014," Anothai said.
So far, 50 per cent of Dell’s customers have already prepared to get into the cloud, especially hybrid cloud computing.
Meanwhile, potential customers for IoT solutions including gateways, cloud and advanced analytic systems are in the healthcare, manufacturing and smart-city segments. Storage solutions will be offered to all kinds of enterprises, of every size, because of the huge growth in data.
Anothai added that Dell’s end-user computing business unit, including personal computers and notebooks, was No 1 in the commercial market in Thailand, while No 3 in the consumer market.
"Overall, Dell is No 2 in Thailand’s computer market with a share of 15-17 per cent," he said.
The telecommunications regulator is expected to hold an auction this year for bandwidth compatible with fourth-generation wireless broadband. Dell is therefore preparing network function virtualisation as its flagship solution for the telecom market.
Dell has four business units targeting enterprises: the server, storage, and network unit, which contributes 25 per cent of total revenue; end-user computing (PCs and notebooks), which contributes 70 per cent; and the software and service units, which together contribute the remaining 5 per cent.
