Central Embassy hosts anniversary special

CENTRAL EMBASSY is spending Bt40 million on celebrating the first anniversary of the luxury mega store.

Barom Bhicharnchitr, managing director of Central Embassy, said over the last year the mall had attracted between 18,000 and 20,000 visitors daily, a promising sign considering it was a progressive and cutting-edge project.
Visitors have given positive feedback about their Central Embassy experiences, he said.
With a 50/50 mix of Thai and international visitors, the first year of operations has provided a solid foundation for growth and development in both markets, he said.
Barom said spending had been robust across all brands and shops. A contributing factor to this positive was the fact that 30 per cent of the retailers were new to the Thai market and some were exclusive to Central Embassy.
He said the retail occupancy was at 98 per cent, with 180 brands and shops calling Central Embassy home.
“We are working closely together with the brands to ensure that the ultimate concept of Central Embassy comes to fruition,” he said.
“I strongly believe in the vision that we have for the future and know that we will continue to work hard to show our customers why we offer the best in services, shopping and lifestyle that is in harmony with their busy lives.
“Our retailers are continually refining the concepts of their stores to fit into the ethos of Central Embassy and it will take time. But the developments that are being put into place will bring us closer to our eventual aim.”
Baron said over the next year there would be a dynamic progression as his management team pushed towards the overall conception of Central Embassy.
With new hardware and software innovations to be integrated into the overall design, eight new hubs would open, 25 new retailers would be welcomed and an extra 4,500 square metres of space would be available, with level six fully revealed by the first quarter next year.
Baron said another important part of the project was the six-star Park Hyatt Hotel, which would open mid-2016 to provide another element to the lifestyle philosophy of Central Embassy.
The aim of these augmentations was to double visitor numbers in the upcoming year, so that it would be in line with the originally projected customer numbers for this period.
“When all the pieces of this project come together, then this won’t be just a centre for shopping – it will be the lifestyle destination of Bangkok, everything brought together in one place,” he said.
“We want all our visitors to feel at home, connected and part of our community. This is what this project aims for – an oasis for the people.”
The first-year birthday celebration includes world-renowned artist group FriendsWithYou, who are making their Southeast Asia debut and turning Central Embassy into an urban playground full of fun inflated art.
Other elements of the celebration include Korean artist CL of 2NE1, mini-concerts, workshops and a special fashion spectacle.
