Dow says it ensures operational excellence by bringing in the world's most advanced technology for production quality and environmental and safety management.
Since the company was established in 1967, Dow Thailand has been continuously improving products and services for its customers in Thailand and throughout the Asia-Pacific region, it says. Currently, Dow Thailand has 15 plants in Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, Asia Industrial Estate, and Hemeraj Eastern Industrial Estate.
“As a solution provider, Dow has developed numerous advanced technologies with our partners and customers to meet the needs of end users and provide solutions for some the world’s challenges,” Rayong site director Tod Sutton said.
“Dow Thailand has selected only the best technology that is most suitable for our production base by considering factors such as best performance, less energy and resource consumption, higher yields and less cost of production, while increasing safety efficiency, as well as benefiting the business.”
Dow Thailand says it has brought in the most advanced technology throughout the manufacturing process, from plant design to production planning.
An outstanding example is the new double metal cyanide (DMC) polyol plant that started operating in April. It is the largest polyol plant in the world that uses cutting-edge DMC technology, which allows continuous production and reduces the overall footprint of the facility. Energy consumption and wastewater generation are reduced by 50-70 per cent, and the technology eliminates 100 per cent of solid waste.
Furthermore, Dow Thailand has a laboratory that uses world-class technology that can accurately analyse complex data or solve issues in the production process to enhance its capabilities.
Jirasak Singmaneechai, managing director of Dow Thailand, said that in 2014, net sales were Bt124.219 billion, as new facilities with state-of-the art technology allowed the company to respond to the growing demands of the market more effectively with a total annual production rate of 2.13 million tonnes.
Dow says it is determined to provide products and services that will improve people’s well-being in a sustainable manner. The company claims to value integrity, respect for people, and protecting the planet, together with the commitment to maintain operational responsibility in worldwide chemical production and management.
Dow also works to make all of its production processes accident-free, while strictly maintaining the safety of its employees, plants, and surrounding communities, it says.
Narin Wongthanasirikul, Thailand responsible care leader, said sustainability was at the heart of every step at Dow.
“We have set sustainability goals every 10 years. Our first sustainability goal was set for 1995 to lay foundations in the culture of safety and environmental care. For 2015, the company has focused on expanding sustainability goals to customers and consumers through our innovative products, to meet the shortage of resources such as clean drinking water, agricultural products, and energy.”
Recently, Dow announced its “2025 Sustainability Goals”. The company says it will continue to ensure people’s well-being by leading the society to sustainability and adding highest value to the economy, the environment, and society. Dow promises to lead the societal blueprint; deliver breakthrough innovations; advance a circular economy; value nature; increase confidence in chemical technology; engage employees; and execute world-leading operational performance.
Dow Thailand says it aims to grow its business together with Thai society and the community by continuously developing projects for education, the environment, and well-being, as well as encouraging employees to participate in order to raise their awareness of social responsibility.
