United Motor Works (Siam) has been officially appointed the product distributor of JLG Industries in Thailand. JLG, a US-based company, is a manufacturer of mobile aerial work platforms and access equipment.

UMWS is a leading distributor and marketer of material-handling equipment, construction equipment, automotive garage equipment and accessories in Thailand and Indochina.

JLG hopes to tap the local company’s distribution network, facilities, and experience to expand its presence in the Kingdom.

Under the agreement, UMWS will also provide after-sale services and support to JLG customers in Thailand.

The US company says it is confident of the high demand for its products in Thailand as well as the growth of the local economy. The Thai economy will continue to grow, said Desmond Soh, president and general manager of JLG Asia.

Ultra boom lift series

Three major series of JLG products are available for sale under this partnership, namely its ultra boom lift series, scissor lift series, and vertical lift series. JLG boasts the world’s tallest ultra boom lift, which can reach the 19th floor of a building.

The target buyers of JLG products are industrial-equipment users in the logistics, automotive and construction industries. UMWS expects local sales of JLG products to reach Bt260 million by 2017.

UMWS managing director Atsushi Tomita said the company, which has grown steadily for more than 68 years of operations, had set a total sales target of more than Bt800 million this year, a 20-per-cent increase from |last year. This excludes the expected sales figures from the distribution of JLG products in Thailand.

UMWS sales are expected to be around Bt1 billion next year.

The company’s short-term goal is to be a top-three supplier to the material-handling and construction-equipment industries in Thailand, Tomita said.
