“We forecast reaching around 1.5 million smartphone sales for the project within three months,” said Sigvart Voss Eriksen, DTAC chief marketing officer.
The company expects its data usage in prepaid services to rise from 54 per cent to 60 per cent and boost total revenue.
DTAC earlier announced a target of 2.5 million users on its fourth-generation cellular services by the end of this year. It also targeted single-digit revenue growth.
The company has three smartphone packages under its “Think of Smartphone, Think of Happy” campaign, featuring affordable smartphones and free use of social-media applications for a certain period and some free bonus calls. The price range of the smartphones in the campaign is Bt1,000 to Bt10,000.
In the third package, DTAC is partnering with leading mobile-phone manufacturer Samsung and local mobile-phone company Samart I-Mobile to bundle it with social-media packs including Facebook and Line and offer a certain number of free calls.
Eriksen said DTAC expected 650,000 customers to utilise the third package with a Happy mobile-phone SIM card.
