Information and Communications Technology Minister Pornchai Rujiprapa has urged the boards of TOT and CAT Telecom to talk with their concession holders to seek ways to solve legal disputes.
The State Enterprise Policy Commission, also known as the “superboard”, resolved on May 6 that the two state telecommunication agencies negotiate with their private concession holders to seek ways to clear off all disputes and to maximise their telecommunications-tower infrastructure jointly.
The superboard also urged the ICT Ministry this month to press both agencies to hold such talks.
A TOT source said it had held the first round of talks with high-ranking executives of its concession holder Advanced Info Service.
Tevin tipped as next
PTT’s CEO selection committee has pared down the list of candidates to one name, according to Finance Ministry permanent secretary Rungson Sriworasat, who chairs the selection panel.
A source with the PTT board said the committee had chosen PTT Exploration and Production chief executive officer Tevin Vongvanich as the next PTT CEO.
The term of PTT’s existing CEO, Pailin Chuchottaworn, will end on September 9. The selection committee will submit its choice to the PTT board for consideration today.
Two models for tender
The Energy Ministry will launch the 21st round of petroleum exploration and production tendering on two revenue-sharing models, the production sharing contract (PSC) and the Thailand III Plus concession contract basis, the ministry’s permanent secretary Kurujit Nakornthap said.
The ministry is ready to invite interested companies to take part in the bidding once the National Legislative Assembly passes the amended petroleum laws, he said.
Some selected high-potential fields in the Gulf of Thailand will be on offer under the PSC model and the auction will be conducted by the Department of Mineral Fuels. For low-potential fields, the auction will be on the Thailand III Plus basis.
Rice auction on july 7
The Commerce Ministry is set to release another 1.39 million tonnes of rice from the government’s stocks through general bidding on July 7.
This will be the fourth tender for this year. The third auction last month sold 840,000 tonnes of rice worth about Bt7.8 billion, from a total tender offer of 1.06 million tonnes.
Duangporn Rodphaya, director-general of the Foreign Trade Department, said the government had foreseen high demand amid lower supplies of rice from drought impacts.
