NO BROKEN BONES WILL STOP HIM
Areepong Bhoocha-Oom, new permanent secretary at Tourism and Sports Ministry, met the media for the first time last Wednesday – with his broken arm in a sling.
He smiled and told the reporters that he had been cycling too much and fallen off his bike. Like many others, he too has been practising for the “Bike for Mom” event, which will be held on August 16 to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday.
“It’s like I was welcomed to my new job with this accident,” he said, though he was quick to clarify that the broken arm would not interfere with his tasks. “I will oversee tourism action plans and will work on turning second-tier cities into new destinations.”
VIP ANUWAT AT HIS FAVOURITE EATERY
Anuwat Luengtaweekul, chief financial officer of Thanachart Bank, loves eating out – which may be why he chose Luk Kai Thong Emquartier as the venue for a press briefing. Apparently, this eatery is one of his favourites, and he told reporters that they shouldn’t miss out on the “signature” dessert.
Luk Kai Thong is a Thai-Chinese restaurant managed by the son of the founder of Kai Thong, a well-known restaurant in Muang Thong Thani, which Anuwat visits frequently.
He became an even bigger fan of both places when the owners gave him a VIP card offering a 10 per cent discount. What thrilled him even more is that the card lasts “forever” – it has no expiry date.
And since this card is only granted to a select few, Anuwat has even more reason to be a loyal client and smart spender.
