VISA HAS appointed Suripong Tantiyanon as its manager for Thailand.

“It’s an honour to be chosen to lead Visa’s team in this dynamic market. I’m looking forward to building on Visa’s strong legacy in Thailand, working with our clients and partners to ensure Visa remains the best way to pay and be paid for everyone everywhere,” he said yesterday.
With more than 15 years in the finance industry, Suripong brings a wealth of experience in building and leading business teams for top national and international banks, and an in-depth knowledge of the payments business, Visa says.
He comes from Siam Commercial Bank, where he was executive vice president and head of the mass customer segment and future banking, and credit card products.
He started his banking career at Citibank as head of bankcard acquisition, usage and product management, and later became its country marketing director.
He succeeds Somboon Krobteeranon, who has retired after leading Visa’s Thailand business for the past 20 years.
Tolan Steele, Visa’s manager for Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, said the company was thrilled to have found a manager of Suripong’s calibre to lead its business in Thailand.
“Our country team has done an exceptional job of working with financial institutions, merchants and government partners to build solid, sustainable growth.
“I believe Suripong will help Visa to deliver even stronger offerings for our clients, and continue to lead and grow the payments industry in Thailand.”
Suripong graduated in political science from Chulalongkorn University and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Western Illinois University. He is an adjunct professor at Thammasat University’s Business School.
