The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission yesterday received formal written confirmation from the Information and Communications Technology Ministry that CAT Telecom would transfer 5 megahertz of the 1,800MHz spectrum to the NBTC for auction.
The commission will add this bandwidth to the combined 25MHz of TrueMove and Digital Phone Co on this spectrum for auction. This means it will auction two licences of 15MHz each, not the originally planned 12.5MHz.
COMMERCE INTEGRATES PROVINCIAL OFFICES
To increase efficiency in promoting trade and investment in the country as well as neighbouring nations, the Commerce Ministry will integrate its provincial agencies under one roof in the office of its permanent secretary.
Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said integrating the work of the provincial agencies should increase efficiency under a single policy, a change from the previous separate agencies under different departments such as Internal Trade, Business Development, Foreign Trade, and International Trade Promotion.
Under the new policy, the ministry will integrate the work of the 77 provincial offices, and their work will be based on 18 clusters so that it will be easy to regulate and outline trade strategies.
The main responsibilities of provincial representatives are to drive trade and investment in their local areas and with neighbouring countries, deal with trade barriers, tackle the cost of living, enhance local enterprises’ competitiveness, and promote local products and services including Otop (One Tambon One Product), organic, and geographical-indication goods.
