SINGHA ESTATE VENTURES INTO UK HOTEL BUSINESS

Singha Estate has formed a fifty-fifty joint venture with FICO group to invest 40.5 million pounds (Bt2.25 billion) in the United Kingdom's hotel business.

The company reported to the Stock Exchange of Thailand yesterday that its wholly-owned subsidiary S Hotels and Resorts (UK) on October 1 acquired a stake in a new JV called FS JV Co with registered capital of one million pounds.
Singha said FS Senior, a wholly-owned subsidiary of FS JV, on October 10 entered into agreements with Patron Jupiter Holdings and West Register Hotels (Holdings) for the purchase of a 100-per-cent stake in Jupiter Hotels Holdings, a company incorporated in England and Wales that operates 26 Mercure hotels in the UK.

ELECTRONICS IN FOCUS
Sony Corp will maintain its focus on the development of next-generation consumer electronic products, president Kazuo Hirai said during an interview with The Yomiuri Shimbun.
“Consumer products will evolve further and further. We won’t turn back [from our policy] even a bit,” Hirai said in expressing his intention to boost Sony’s lineup of the next-generation Life Space UX products, which are being developed under his direct control. Hirai made it clear that Sony will continue to focus on home electronics while other home appliance manufacturers are shifting their focus to businesses targeting corporate customers, from which stable profits are expected.
He said: “Sony’s mission is to create a completely new market just as we did with our Walkman [portable media players].” -– Asia News Network
