At 63, Ho Kwon Ping, executive chairman of Banyan Tree Holdings, may have travelled the world.
Born in Hong Kong, he grew up in Thailand. He went to a university in Taiwan and pursued his further education in the United States. He settled in Singapore and he still travels a lot as the captain of the hotel company, which has properties in 13 countries.
Along the way, he has called Thailand his second home. Of the company’s 36 hotel properties, 7 are in Thailand. He flies here nearly twice a month, but not always to visit the properties. His extra-curricular activities emerged during an interview at Banyan Tree Bangkok Hotel.
In his recent trips to Thailand, his destination has been Bangkok, where his son and his five-year-old grandchild live. Nopparat Aumpa, the company’s general manager, was comfortable about divulging the information about her boss. The interview took place after the press conference to launch a new hotel brand. As the event wrapped up, Ho took a selfie with staff. Certainly, a bad boss would not have delighted staff that much.
It seems the only thing left |for Ho to do is to show how much he loves the Kingdom by moving the Banyan Tree Holdings’ headquarters from Singapore to Thailand.
