Twenty-six revolving funds deliver

The Comptroller-General’s Department reported yesterday that 26 revolving funds have already delivered Bt17.18 billion to the Finance Ministry and three more are required to hand over Bt10.9 billion.

Manas Jamveha, comptroller-general, said that under the ministry’s requirement, state organisations with funds or revolving funds are required to deliver capital or profit to the treasury to strengthen the country’s fiscal position. About 29 revolving funds were required to deliver their excess capital and, as of October 20, 26 have done so.

“The department’s intention for delivery of funds with excess capital to the Finance Ministry is to have the capital for the country and its economic system’s development following the government’s policy,” he said.

Airasia expands reach

AirAsia continues to expand its extensive network of domestic routes with additions to U-Tapao Airport, its fifth domestic flight base.

It is flying direct from Pattaya (U-Tapao) to Chiang Mai and Hat Yai, connecting the East to both the North and South for greater travel options.

The airline continues to build on the success of the U Tapao-Udon Thani route that bridged the region and the Northeast.

Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia, said yesterday that both Chiang Mai and Hat Yai are popular destinations for Thai and foreign travellers alike.

With Pattaya already a varied and attractive tourist destination with both natural and cultural attractions, the added routes are sure to stimulate travel, he said.

AirAsia is introducing the routes at a promotional fare starting at only Bt590 one way.

U-Tapao-Chiang Mai will be available 10 times weekly with two flights daily except on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, when one flight will be available daily. Bookings are available until November 15 for travel between November 27 and October 29 next year.
