Ardent Capital launches recruiting firm

ARDENT Capital has announced the launch of Ardent Hired, a recruiting company aimed at helping fast-growing start-ups in Southeast Asia with tailored recruiting services.

Ardent Hired, which was incubated from Ardent Capital’s internal recruiting team, has been active in generating and placing candidates in many top start-ups including aCommerce, HappyFresh, and Moxy and looks to ride this momentum across the region.
The company will be led by John Thornton, a seasoned recruiter with more than five years’ experience across Europe and Asia, and a team of local recruiters familiar with the local talent pool and start-up ecosystem.
“We are excited at this amazing opportunity to help drive the start-up ecosystem even further by working with leading companies in the region,” Thornton said. “Additionally, we are proud to have made a significant contribution to aCommerce’s growth, and we’re ready to extend our services to companies looking to hire and retain the best candidates.”
Ardent Hired differentiates itself from competitors by being one of the only active recruiting teams that have worked within the walls of a start-up. Growing from within Ardent Capital’s Dusit Thani office, the team has worked directly with e-commerce solutions provider aCommerce, a company that has grown to more than 700 employees from 400 in 2015 alone.
Ardent Capital chief executive officer Adrian Vanzyl said: “Ardent Hired is in a unique position, as the team has worked side by side with fast-growing start-ups and understands the direct needs of each division, line managers, and even co-founders at various stages of a start-up’s growth projection.

Services and impact approach
“Not many recruiting firms, if any, have had this type of access to really dissect the recruiting challenges a start-up faces on a day-to-day basis in Southeast Asia.”
ACommerce was also incubated within Ardent and is headquartered at the same Dusit Thani office.
Tom Srivorakul, aCommerce CEO for Thailand, said the firm “is a typical high-growth company building a talented team within a highly competitive e-commerce industry. John [Thornton] and Ardent Hired consulted directly with our business heads to fulfil the calibre of team members within specific timelines and budgets. Clearly the indication of a great partner who understands our needs and delivers results.”
Using a strategic approach to recruiting, Ardent Hired says it emphasises not just a client-service provider relationship, but a partnership that thrives off of an “embedded” approach. Ardent Hired recruiters focus on micro-factors with partners to prioritise and deliver candidates that coordinate with a start-up’s strategy.
With an understanding that today’s recruiter needs to fulfil a wide range of tasks outside of their normal scope of work, Ardent Hired says it provides services including social recruiting, implementing recruitment processes, event planning, candidate screening and evaluation, and promotional design, as well as all traditional recruiting services on a personal level.
Ardent Capital is an operating venture capital firm built by a team of experienced entrepreneurs with a history of successful exits throughout Southeast Asia and globally. Ardent Capital brings a network of companies covering all aspects of e-commerce including business-to-consumer, business-to-business, demand generation and fulfilment in the region.
