Surin Amornchatchawankul, managing director, said yesterday that the new model suited the senior lifestyle because it comes with a bigger touch screen than on other phones, large buttons and a user-friendly interface.
For example, an emergency-service button allows users to place an urgent call to their close relatives in case of a crisis. Users can also press the SOS button so that helpers can navigate to the location the user requires.
The company expects to see more than a fourfold increase in sales because it believes that demand from this segment is still on the rise.
The Android phone will be available via distributors of Link Network.
"We are confident in the policy and capability of Link Network in helping us distribute our product in provincial areas nationwide," he said.
Media Infinity’s move is in line with the 2016 plan of Link Network, which is a nationwide logistics provider owned by veteran investor Wichai Thongtang.
Panida Wattanapathimakul, the new chief operating officer of Link Network, said: "Our next plan is to increase telecom retailers and mom-and-pop stores’ efficiency by transforming traditional retail into ‘Link Pay Point’ counters for credit-card and utility payments. We aim to transform 10 per cent of retailers within our network."
The company also plans to expand into e-commerce.
"Consumers can order goods from websites within our network, pay and pick up at any of the Link Pay Point counters, furthering the e-commerce trend that has gained support from the government.
"This initiative will create more distribution channels for SMEs, making the industry stronger.
"All of our strategies head toward one goal – making Link Network the key distributor of goods and services, bringing business growth to partners as well as developing Thai retailers to be able to stand on a firm foundation.
"We will be the organisation that grows and walks shoulder-to-shoulder with our partners just like our slogan says – ‘Together We Go’."
Wichai Thongtang, chairman of Link Network (Thailand), said that in the middle of this year, his new company started to work with a group of leading businesspeople countrywide to establish Link Network (Thailand).
The company claims that its distribution network is the country’s largest, with more than 150,000 retailers, ranging from telecom shops to mom-and-pop stores, in all 77 provinces, covering all kinds of products and services.
