Malaysia, Africa aviation ties soaring

MALAYSIA'S aviation ties with Africa is soaring, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

Liow, who represented the country at the three-day 25th African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) Plenary Session which ends today in Egypt, said the invitation proved Malaysia’s strong ties with the African continent.
“AFCAC and Malaysia have a long-standing history of successful partnerships. “Malaysia has provided various aviation-training courses for numerous participants from 19 African countries over the years.
“This is to answer the need for highly skilled human capital as we prepare for the challenging task of managing the global civil aviation sector’s growth safely and efficiently,” he said.
Liow said among others, a Search & Rescue Mission Co-ordinator course was completed successfully at the Malaysia Aviation Academy (MAvA), the training arm of the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA).
He also said fellowships were offered to AFCAC member states as well.
“MAvA, having successfully met all requirements, is an associate member of the International Civil Aviation Organisation Trainair Plus Pro-gramme network of training organisations,” he added.
