The zone consists of over 2,000 large and small business operators, including hotels, shopping malls and restaurants.
It covers Ploenchit, Ratchadamri, Wireless and Rama IV roads. Geographically, the area is claimed to be the number one prime location of Bangkok.
“We have set a budget of Bt1 billion for marketing campaigns, to be supported by Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration,” said Busaba Chirathivat, representative of the entrepreneurs.
The zone should attract up to 1.2 million visitors per day due to the campaign, from about 1 million now. The spending per head should also rise from Bt5,000 at present.
