The Central Bankruptcy Court yesterday ruled out absolute receivership for TT&T, a fixed-line telecommunications service provider in provincial areas, after deciding not to extend its rehabilitation plan due to an objection by the listed company’s major creditor.
The Legal Execution Department, as the official receiver, will call for a meeting of TT&T’s creditors for debt negotiations.
If the negotiations are unsuccessful, it will file a case for bankruptcy and then liquidate the company’s assets.
TT&T’s debts total Bt280.6 billion, with stare agency TOT one of the major creditors.
The court ordered TT&T to have a rehabilitation plan in November 2008, and approved the plan in December 2010.
TT&T has a 25-year concession with TOT for 1.5 million fixed lines. The concession expires in 2018.
TT&T still has 490,000 fixed-line users around the country.
