Malaysia-China push halal products

Malaysia makes the most reliable partner for entrepreneurs from China to penetrate the halal market, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Wee Ka Siong.
Malaysia’s globally recognised halal certification meant that it was an ideal stepping stone for the Chinese who were interested in tapping into the halal market, he said.
The Chinese want to penetrate into the halal market in the Middle East and Indonesia but are facing problems due to the lack of halal certification.
“Malaysia is the only country that has halal certification issued by the government under Jakim [Malaysian Islamic Development Department] and it is respected and recognised globally.
“We have the certification while the Chinese have the competitive edge in food manufacturing and production, which will surely produce favourable results,” Wee said. He said this when closing the MCA-initiated the “Belt and Road Initiative: The China-Asean Relations” international conference recently.
Around 1,000 entrepreneurs and industry players from Malaysia and China attended the conference. He also said the event had been a success with a huge turnout.
He assured foreign investors that the Secretariat for the Advancement of Malaysia Entrepreneurs at Wisma MCA is always open to facilitate them in the development of business in the country or abroad.
