Thammasat welcomes applicants for MA degree in regional studies

THAMMASAT University is accepting applications for foreign students for its 2016-17 Master of Arts degree in Asia-Pacific studies, with merit-based scholarships available.

The university says participants will study with some of the best academics in Thailand and overseas including a former director of the International Monetary Fund, a renowned political-economy professor from the University of California, Berkeley, and the director of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation policy support unit.
The programme, launched last year, combines the subjects of political economy, international relations and international law in order to help students understand the situation in the Asia-Pacific region in a multidimensional perspective.
The Master of Arts in Asia-Pacific Studies (MAPS) programme is research-oriented and offers only a full thesis option.
It has students from almost all Asean countries and Bhutan.
Students who are expecting to finish undergraduate study this academic year are also able to apply for the programme and, if accepted, can attend in the next academic year. The submission deadline is June 30.
“Our commitment to produce high-calibre and quality students remains our top priority. The programme aims to be one of the most prestigious area-study graduate programme in the region,” said Assistant Professor Dr Suphat Suphachalasai, the programme director.
The programme also supports capacity building so that its graduates will be equipped with appropriate skills and knowledge to improve their employability |in government, private and |academic sectors, the university says.
