KTB links with Alibaba to give SMEs a boost

KRUNGTHAI BANK has signed a collaboration agreement with Alibaba.com, an English-language wholesale marketplace for global trade under the Alibaba Group, and Crown Tech Advance to help Thai small and medium-sized enterprises expand their e-commerce busine

The agreement also aims to promote their products, services and reputation in the global market via the Alibaba.com website. Under the collaboration, KTB customers who become Alibaba.com Gold Supplier members receive one-stop online trade services together with working-capital support and financial services.
Songpol Chevapanyaroj, KTB senior executive vice president for the global transaction banking group, said the bank would offer members working capital for international trade plus a business advisory service and an exemption of the corporate online fee for one year.
People who want to become members can contact KTB at any of its 79 business centres and 25 international business centres nationwide.
Alibaba.com’s Gold Supplier members – which must be approved for the authentication and verification by a third-party agency and will be certified by Alibaba.com – can upload their products without limited number and exhibit their products in a maximum of 25 showcases together with an advertising-banner space for one month.
Amon Meemano, chief executive of Crown Tech Advance, the authorised reseller of Alibaba.com in Thailand, said the company would provide SMEs that subscribed to Gold Supplier KTB with the premium service.
Amon said that included quality training, coaching and supporting Krungthai members for achieving success.
Jerry Wu Zhe, Alibaba.com country manager for Thailand, said Thai products were in great demand around the world.
He said the company anticipated this partnership would enable more Thai SMEs to export quality products to international markets and meet global buyer demand in a more efficient way through e-commerce.
